  • Visual identification- accused identified at the scene of crime during daytime- but was not previously known to the victim – whether mandatory to conduct identification parade.
  • Visual identification – identification by a single witness in unfavourable conditions- corroboration mandatory.

​Held:-

(i) Where the culprits were identified during daytime at the scene of the crime but he was not prior to the date of the incident known to the witness, it is prudent to conduct an identification parade.

(ii) Where identification is done by a single witness in unfavourable conditions, corroboration is required as a matter of practice, which may be in the form of other witnesses, conduct of physical evidence etc.
